Hi.

Im on win 10 pro, version 2004 (build 19041.388), system language is Ru so there could be a not exact translation of the errors.

Tried to install KB4566782 via windows update, it failed with 0x800f0831 error.

Tried installing it via standalone offline installation, same.

Checked CBS log, the was a lot of: "Failed to resolve package" and this code.

I took these steps in cmd(ran as administrator) after turning AV off just in case:

>dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

Hangs on 62.3%, jumps to 100% with an error:

Error: 0x800f081f could not find source files.

Also DISM version is 10.0.19041.329 and image version is 10.0.19041.388, i wonder if thats important.

>chkdsk

no errors or damaged sectors

>sfc /scannow

100%, found and fixed damaged files

>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

component store needs recovery (i guess its the same i component store is corrupted?)

opeartion completed successfully

>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

same as previous

did

>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

again, expecting changes after sfc returned fixes, but still

62.3%, jump to 100% after a couple of minutes and 'could not find source files'.

Downloaded win10 usb with media creation tool, checked index of required image in E:\sources\install.esd with

>DISM /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:E:\sources\install.esd

Then ran

>DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth /source:E:\sources\install.esd:4

Again stays on 62.3, then 100% and same error, only takes longer because of USB speeds.

Tried using /Source:WIM:path, same.

Tried adding /LimitAccess key, the difference is process no longer waits at 62.3 and immediately reaches 100% with same error.

Tried unpacking esd:4 to install.wim file, i tried getting into recovery from USB and running DISM from there after checking volumes in diskpart.

Even made a virtual disk on my non OS drive, mounted install.esd there and ran restore using virtualdisk\windows folder as source and my non OS drive root as scratchdir and os drive as image path, still the same.

For some reason other two updates installed fine (KB4570334 and KB4569745).

I honestly have no idea what to do now, i dont want to reinstall otherwise perfectly fine working system and im frustrated because an utility that was supposed to fix the error cannot work because of the same error. Also why cant windows just download missing files\packages if its required for an update?

>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /AnalyzeComponentStore

fails with 'could not find file' error at 76.3%

>DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup

goes to 10%, then 100% with success message.

After that Analyze command drops at 60%, not 76.3.

Found a note on one site that you need exact same version of image and source so i went and downloaded exact same build .329 as well as .388 just in case, still nothing.
