Hi there, I have recently formatted my HD and clean installed with an old version of Win7 Pro SP1 x64 OS, I have for over a week now been searching online for help but to no avail. Windows update seems to hang 'searching for updates'. I can presume my Pc is virus free due to a clean install so i'm unsure whether Microsoft has stopped providing updates for older versions of windows or not. I have also tried to upgrade to win10 64-bit OS all works fine with the installation until it reaches 'searching for updates' that also hangs and doesn't download any updates, I have tried Microsoft stand alone installer also but that doesn't work either. I have also tried running 'Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool' Results are below. I have also tried to reset Windows Update components by running the Fixit on Microsoft's website and found a windows error code '0x80070005' also known as 'Access Denied'. Something to do with registry permissions I think. Would a clean boot and then run the Microsoft fixit fix the issue im having with windows update.
