I am trying to add some special characters using alt codes on my laptop running Windows 10. None of the codes work.
I am using an external numpad because my laptop doesn't come with one and doesn't have the Numlock option on the keyboard. The numpad is working properly for input
Steps that I have done:
1. Turn off the 'Use Mousekey when Numlock is On' as per this post (my default was Mousekey off altogether). I know that other advice suggested otherwise (turn it on instead). But that doesn't make sense for me because then I couldn't use the numpad for its default use. I also used the alt codes at the office with a keyboard+numpad and I think the Mousekey was off as well.
2. Adding EnableHexNumpad to the registry
Please let me know if there are other things I could do or what the cause might be.
