Windows 11 Antimalware service executable CPU usage

Just updated and Antimalware service executable is now taking up over 30% of my CPU. I hadn't even seen this program on my task manager prior to this (I keep task manager open every day) and now it's at the top of my CPU usage and it won't go away. I tried putting it into exclusions, I even turned off windows defender, it is still there no matter what I do. It's making games and other programs unusable because it's eating up so much CPU.
