Windows 10 audio keyboard mute button stopped working, Windows 10

If I press the audio mute button on my keyboard I get a "turning blue" circle where my cursor is on screen but the audio from speakers does not mute. If I go to the speaker icon in task bar and mute from there the audio mutes.I checked audio drivers, as suggested by MicroSoft, they are all up to date.any ideas why my speaker keyboard mute button does the "blue circle thing" but doesn't mute audio like it used to? Again if I mute speaker from task bar speaker icon, it mutes.Al
