Windows 11 Audio switched to loud & distorted, playing even when muted

My computer finally snuck in the windows 11 update... please let me know if reverting would fix this.I found this when I was playing games (Halo MCC); whenever a match begins or ends, the volume becomes distorted and ear-breakingly loud. This can be fixed from system -> sound -> properties and changing output setting format, toggling to either 1 or 2 channels.Once this happens, volume plays even when muted for anything.All drivers are updated.
