Windows 11 Backup and Restore (Windows 7) in Windows 11

Backup thru Backup and Restore (Windows 7) created a 527 GB image on 1/15/22. The used space on my C: drive was only 275 GB. Why nearly double the used space is the backup image? I'm running Win. 11 Home Version 21H2 (x64) on a new Dell Inspiron 15 3511 PC with a usable SSD space of 460 GB. I'm backing up to a WD Elements 2 TB disk drive with 596 GB of free space. This version of Win. 11 was preloaded into this PC.Can I run a repair program on my backup program?
