Windows 10 Been struggling for a week or so with this. How come when I add things to my D drive then look in the "This PC" tab it doesn't show a blue or red bar

I am able to download files to my D drive it seems but when I go to look to see how much space I have left it still shows 116g of 116g but there's files in the drive so shouldn't it be taking up space? I should be seeing the blue bar like I did with my C drive right? (though the C is now red because there's no space lol). I also tried moving over my documents from my C drive to the D but it says access denied. Help with that would be appreciated as well. Thank you in advance!
