Windows 10 Black screen with cursor on logon - only one user affected

Hello - I know this is a commonly raised problem, but this is different from other cases I've found.When my son logs onto our family PC, after typing in his password it pauses for a few seconds, then goes to a black screen with the cursor visible. It will sit like this for about 5 minutes before displaying the desktop. (ctrl-alt-del will bring up task manager)However, my account is not affected - logs in fine with no issues.I have updated the display driver which didn't help.
