My computer's disk has been an issue for over a year but never had too intense of an effect. Recently I've had issues with full disk usage yet no tasks using full disk for almost an hour upon startup. I used command prompt and did a disk scan with /chkdsk and a few extra modifiers in the same command, I think it was /chkdsk /f /v /b /scan though I cold be wrong, I don't have great memory. After a few hour restart it opened back up and after start up an error appeared in a small window. The pc is usable just has corrupt files I feel a need to fix.
The error reads "C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft(tons of text)\Win32Bridge.Server.exe The file or directory is corrupt and unreadable."
I made my way through files and figured out how to make "Administrator" the owner of the file and open it. Through granting myself permission I had to click easily over 100 times on the same button to continue and successfully grant permission. As it was granting permission to all the files many of them were corrupt and I had to confirm to continue for well over 100 corrupt files one by one.
I finally got access, went through the file path and found Win32Bridge.Server.exe. It's not a folder but instead a program and I'm at a loss for what to do. Since I made it through folders I guess the directory isn't corrupt, but I don't know how that works out and could easily be wrong on that. It seems there's a lot to this WindowsApps folder that is corrupt, more than this one program the error warned me about. What solutions are there? Is it possible to replace the whole WindowsApps folder with a fresh untouched copy?
Is it also possible to search for other corrupt files? i've done normal disk scans through C drive properties in the file explorer and the /chkdsk scan and repair and the pc still has corrupt files and issues, but i don't know what or where.
Side note - If this is a copy post I'm sorry, I tried to look through but struggled to find a post that could help with my exact issue.
One more note (edited in) I have for a while used task manager to close windows store many times and think WindowsApps is tied to it and that the constant closing of it could have corrupted the files. Is this the cause of my issues?
