Hello all,

I am using Win10 1909 on my toshiba laptop which have 2 gpus, iGPU (Intel) and dGPU(AMD Radeon R9 M265x). Last year I have noticed that dGPU is malfunctioning and causes freezes after boot. I disabled dGPU form device manager and continue to use my laptop without any problems. Both GPUs are on board and there is no way to physically remove GPU.

Recently, Windows Update suggested to upgrade 20H2, I downloaded it and started installation. After first reboot, upgrade got stuck on a certain point. I tried second time. Same thing happened. I checked rollback logs in X:\$WINDOWS.~BT\Sources\Rollback\setupapi folder. I noticed that upgrade try to install a new driver to my dGPU and presumably, try to power on this display adapter after driver installation and this causes freeze.

Some suggest to change group policy to prohibit windows update to install driver upgrades. But unfortunately, I have Windows 10 Home and cannot have gpedit.msc. However, I disabled automatically updating drivers. ("Advanced System Settings>Hardware> Device Installation settings> Automatically update drivers" to No). Again nothing changed. Could not install upgrade.

I look similar question in here but cannot find answers. If you have some answer for me, I will be appreciated.

Olcay
