Windows 10 Can't open any documents/pics/files from explorer. Explorer OK, and folders and apps open, though no individual files. Windows 10

Suddenly since yesterday I cannot open files from within explorer. If I right click or double click a file in explorer, all that happens is the circle goes around and around indefinitely.
