Windows 11 cant open ANY word docs in windows 11 error message says: The selected file has an extension doc that is not recognized by windows media

Hi,can someone help me with this one please.1) I can't open ANY word document from One Drive (from either of my two accounts) or from a back up USB flash drive where the file are also stored. 2) Error message says: " The selected file has an extension Doc that is not supported by windows and brings up media player window"3) The word docs don't contain media links.4) I can access PDFs etc. it is only word files that wont open. 5) I have rebooted and checked that I'm logged into my accounts I have a deadline to meet and cant access any of my word files !!thanks
