Windows 11 CD/DVD drive no longer appears in Device Manager. Has Windows 11 phased out support of these external drives?

I needed to burn a data DVD and plugged in my external burner. This burner has worked as recently as Spring 2023 (Windows 11). However, after plugging it into the USB ports, neither the program I use to write to the DVD nor Windows Explorer recognizes the external drive. I checked the device manager in Windows 11 and there is no longer a category for CD/DVD drives. Are these external drives no longer supported? If they are still supported how do I get the CD/DVD drives to show back up in my device manger?I am currently setting up an older laptop that uses Windows 10 to complete the project, bu
