Windows 11 Computer won't sleep after kb5042099 or kb5044033

Since these updates tried installing themselves a week ago, they prevent my computer from sleeping. If I uninstall the update and restart, then I can use sleep again until Windows re-installs the update again. I've gone through this over and over and over again every day for a week now. Windows appears to disregard pausing update installation and just re-installs these updates again anyway. Please tell me how I can prevent these updates from installing or fix sleep mode.
