Windows 10 Error 0xc0000225 after trying to reboot into safe mode - any fixes?

Went to turn the computer on, it showed the asus logo and then went to a black screen with a cursor visible and then would be stuck on this. Turned off/on a couple times with no luck. Performed a power restart with removing battery etc - again, no luck. Then I tried to reboot the computer into safe mode and then recieved this error message:-------Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the error:1.
