Hello,
I've been trying to hook up my external monitor (LG 27EA73) to a laptop (Dell Latitude E6440) through a VGA cable without succes.
I've been searching the internet for hours without finding a solution and hope to find one here.
The laptop recognizes the monitor. Whenever I plug in the cable I hear the connecting sound, within the settings menu the layout changes to that of two monitors and I notice I can move my cursor to the second screen as well. However there is no image on the second screen.
I have tried many things already, of which I try to recall all of them below as a reference, and am out of ideas. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I need this setup for my new job in 10 days.
I assume it's software related since it is recognized (cable works) and the monitor works too.
The graphics card is an Intel HD Graphics 4600, in case that might help.
Hoping someone can help me.

- Tried different shut down/restart in combination with plug/unplug methods
- Uninstalled the graphics driver
- Deactivated the graphics driver
- Installed the monitor driver manually (although the latest version is for Windows 8)
- Deleted ghost monitors
- Tried with an HDMI cable (this one doesn't show anything at all and is not even recognized)
- Tested the monitor on two Macbooks with two different cables, both work flawlessly
- Installed Dell SuportAssist and installed a bunch of software updates through that
- Tried changing the refresh rate of the monitor but there is no other available then 60Hz
- Tried changing the monitor settings but I can't access them since there is no signal
- Booted in BIOS to see if it would be working then
