The answers to the questions on resolving fingerprint reader issues are not complete in any research I've done. I am NOT an expert, but the primary issue may be that when you get to the point of checking for Windows updates, you must also scroll down and check for optional updates. I could be wrong, but it worked for me after removing the device, restarting, and checking for additional updates.
