FIX IS BELOW

////

Hello everyone,

I'm making this "question" because I, together with other people, want to fix a stupid problem with our computer that not even this guy "I'm ****, an installation specialist, 10 year Windows MVP, and Volunteer Guardian Moderator here to help you" was able to solve.

Unfortunately the threads where this questions were asked are already closed without an answer and I can't get to them sadly. So here I am.

Let's get straight to the problem.

When you plug through jack connection a device, the system asks "What's this device? Microphone, Earphones, headset excetera?". You normally click what it is and everything is good.

But what happens if you ignore the notification, or you clicked wrongly? The system uses your jack connection wrongly (or doesn't at all) and to solve this problem you just disconnect and reconnect again to rechoose the correct alternative which is a bit of a nuisance but we'll see later how to fix without the reconnection of the device.

If you read carefully, I talked about that being a notification. So this implies other problems, for example, someone that disabled the notifications doesn't get to choose at all, or someone that chose "Don't ask me again" for a device, and then plugged a different device, again doesn't get to choose.

SO HERE'S THE FIX:

////

What we need is a way to "Choose which device it is" without the use of the notification. And mostly you assume it is somewhere in "Settings", but it is not.

That option is in the APP of the sound system you have installed on your PC, usually (and for most people) is Realtek Audio Console.

If you open this app, on the bottom there's "Advanced Option of the Device", where you get to choose what type of device it is, and THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THE NOTIFICATION DID.

Problem Solved. I hope this helps some people :)
