I've just updated my OS from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It was a clean install onto a new HDD but using the very same machine I had before.
I have tried to play some of the games that worked before, and none do. I get error messages that a program has stopped working, while for one I hear that the program has loaded, but I have a black screen where nothing happens. I have tried using compatiblity mode, as well as running as an administrator, but to no avail. Again, these games worked with Windows 7. They don't work now.
All are Ubisoft games, opened via their uplay.exe. The games in question:
Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag. This worked first time, with no problem. The second time I ran it it crashed and all it does now is tell me it has stopped working before anything has happened. This worked fine on this same machine running Windows 7.
Assassins Creed Rogue. Never worked. Just crashes like the game above.
Far Cry 4. Worked fine on this same machine, when it had Windows 7 running. Now it doesn't work at all. on Windows 10. It opens, I can hear the program working, the main menu, etc. But there is a black screen and no activity.
The issue is that these games worked before, now they don't. Can you help me understand why a new update of Windows 10 would be unable to run games that ran, no problem, on Windows 7?
