Hi everyone, So back in December I think it was, I noticed my touchpad on my HP pavilion laptop was not perfectly aligned with what I wanted to move my mouse to (it might have a delay or drag or glitch - and it became a nuisance to select text! This never went away. I had a theory that one side of the touchpad looked more pressed in than the other if you really study it at eye level.
SOOO I added a mouse I had handy.
But I was surprised to find that the mouse only made selection and drag issues better ---- But new or worsening issues include RANDOMly going back to the previous page. Like I'll be filling out a web form on a page like this, and it will just randomly ACT the way it would if I hit the back button. And I'll find myself having wasted time -- re-filling out everything again. (Fortunately, some job app sites have been catching it for me by asking "are you sure you want to go back and lose this info?" and I'm like "thank you so much for asking bc hell noooo that was not my intention.") But Even when there is nothing to fill out, it does this. Any web page.
But NOT ALWAYS, just 1/4 of the time. Often enough to drive me crazy.
I swear it has happened in all of these cases: when I click (regular left click), definitely a few times as I am scrolling on my mouse's center-scroll, and maybe also when I right-click, and worst - when I am doing nothing. It just did it now, when I clicked the regular mouse (left).
--- Chrome. I think "okay maybe its an issue with google chrome" but NO, because get this, its pervasively all over other applications, too.
----OneNote, which I use a lot, will glitch and switch pages on me when I go to type or paste something in. Again, not always, but some of the time.
---And MS Word is fine because it has nowhere "back" to go, but
----FILE EXPLORER is driving me berserk. It does it on par with Chrome. I'll be within one subfolder and it'll just go back, not necessarily to its parent folder, but to the most recent folder I was in. I drag newly-downloaded files to open folders quite often, and this has gotten sooo hard in the past month, because it's an art form to be able to get it in the right place and quickly enough.
And on Word, especially this week, I can't ever just *select* a sentence easily. It takes 3 attempts, minimum. Selects nearby words and dropping it wherever it sees fit if I linger there a moment too long. I am losing so much time.
Does anyone know what this is?
My computer is relatively new, like less than 2 years!
I have run mouse hardware installs and uninstalls and troubleshooting and updates and scans galore. Especially since issues started, I get my updates done whenever it tells me to -- and I restart on the reg. I use OneDrive for a lottt of my file storage, but my issue right now is less about speed or PC processing anyways…. so Idk what the issue could be.
I am just now (2/5/20) disabling Sticky Keys, Toggle Keys, and Filter Keys, to see if anything is affected.
Since these issues can't be predicted, but do happen every 4-10 minutes, I am nervous to take this in to a computer specialist and have them not be able to see what I mean. But I can always rely on the touchpad to be glitchy enough to convince them alone.
Incase this matters, I had a lot of Internet/network connectivity issues this month, whereas my roommates weirdly did not. It seems to be well connected this week, (not to jinx it), but last week, it dropped every 3-5 minutes, then every hour, then every 2 minutes. How have I not pulled all of my hair out? I do not know.
Please help.
