Hi there,

I have what I believe is Hard drive failure, not sure if it is a boot record failure within the OS. Or if the error is irrelevant to the OS. It's a hard drive that currently has Windows 7 Ultimate. Had this drive for the better part of 10 years, and in the last 6 months it has wanted to run disk check every reboot/start up. Until recently, it was working (I usually just skipped the check, which was probably foolish). I now have the drive in another system and it shows up in bios and post, I have an icon for it in "My Computer" with no capacity label, I am also unable to access the drive even though I have it setup as a slave currently. I ran check disk in read-only in command prompt for said drive, and this is the results it gave me:

C:\WINDOWS\system32>chkdsk E:
The type of the file system is NTFS.

WARNING! /F parameter not specified.
Running CHKDSK in read-only mode.
Read-only chkdsk found bad on-disk uppercase table - using system table.

Attribute list entry with type code 80 in file 9 is corrupt.
16 file records processed.
File verification completed.
1 large file records processed.
File record segment F is an orphan.

Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read-only mode.

What would be my next step, there are files I hope to extract from the drive before I do anything else with it.
