Hello! As stated in the title... Ive been having an issue lately since I upgraded my internet where everything works perfectly fine when im browsing, watching videos, downloading, and chatting on discord. But the second I boot up a game that needs to connect to an online service my internet grinds to a halt, and it happens on 80% of games.
currently the issue does not happen on my routers 2.4ghz connection, only on the 5ghz connection which leaves me very confused. Ive contacted my isp and theyve told me that whenever I boot up an online game on the 5ghz connection my bandwidth usage on my laptop spikes to about 2/3 of my usage.
And on that note ive been running tests as much as I could possibly do.
Exhibit A: This is what my network usage/bandwidth looks like when running a speedtest. As you can see its a consistent connection with no clear indications of an interruption.
Exhibit B: This is what my network usage looks like when booting an online game that requires a connection to some type of online service like a server, or an account login. Notice the steep rise in data being downloaded, followed by a sharp stop in the connection. During this moment my internet connection on my win 10 laptop grinds to a halt and trying to run a speedtest results in a "could not connect to website" on most browsers.
I would really appreciate any help I can get. I'm willing to provide more information if needed, and im willing to do more tests to provide said information. As ive said above, this problem does not occur on the wifis 2.4ghz connection and only on the 5g connection. I would really pefer to use the 2.4 as im in an apartment building. This problem also does not occur on my other devices. So while the connection becomes affected on my laptop during the booting of an online game, the connection stays fast and persistent on my other devices.
