How can I be sure I'm talking to a Microsoft representative? My PC locked up and displayed a warning not to turn off PC and call '833

Warning directs me to call 833-629-3140. I called and rep wanted to run full scan. He advised me not to purchase any products as Microsoft provided necessary protection for firewalls, etc. We were disconnected before scan was completed. when I called back, I got a different who wanted to do same things as rep # 1. He finally got around to pitching some firewall protection software for $499.00 for a 1 year subscriptionI did not purchase and now my PC is all messed up..
