Windows 10 How can I view the entire desktop after turning off the News popup?

A few weeks ago a family member started getting the MS News popup on their Windows 10 desktop. I disabled the News "feature" in the taskbar menu but their desktop still has a portion of the desktop locked by the newsfeed. About 20% of the right side of the desktop, from top to bottom, is blurry and app windows will not use that space when opened. When you move the mouse over the region you can still see the descriptions of the feeds supplied by the News widget but there is no UI, just the blurred section. You can even still click on the feeds.Any idea how to uninstall the app/widget or alter t
