Windows 11 How do I untangle a Local and Microsoft account?

I'm setting up a Windows 11 Pro machine that MUST have a local account. I had problems with activation which support said I had to login with a Microsoft account to get it activated and could log back out after. Well... now the local account is entangled with the Microsoft account. I can't remove either one, logging out of the Microsoft account logs out the computer, and I can't make another local account with the needed credentials because they are already taken! How do I remove the Microsoft account login and preserve the local account? Don't tell me I have to reinstall Windows because that'
