Windows 10 How to connect PC to wifi without a cord

I recently purchase a new computer, and it will not connect or go to my main desktop without connecting to the internet via an ethernet cable. Is there a work around for this? I do not have access to an ethernet cable and the wifi router is not near my PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
