Windows 10 How to force Microsoft Pinyin to lock Chinese input mode?

This has been a problem for a long, long time. Like this: How to make the Microsoft Pinyin really default to Chinese?! (5 years ago!)


I have two keyboard:




I have completed the following setup:

  1. Microsoft Pinyin Settings: General->Default mode->Choose IME default mode: Chinese


I can reproduce the BUG by following these steps:

  1. Open Visual Studio Code, and open a english document, switch to Microsoft Pinyin and chinese mode:
  2. Open Chrome or any other application, switch to Microsoft Pinyin and chinese:
  3. In Chrome window, switch keyboard to US keyboard:
  4. Then, switch keyboard again, to Microsoft Pinyin:
  5. So far, can't see any problems, chrome's window remembers the Microsoft Pinyin last pattern(Chinese). But now, switching to the step 1 window(Visual Studio Code): , the input mode changed to English mode!

I don't think it's a feature, because the problem only occurs when switching keyboards in non-vscode windows! If you switching keyboards in vscode window, you'll notice that the input mode in the vscode window is still Chinese.


It's very annoying because in my workflow it often happens that every few minutes the Chinese I'm trying to type doesn't appear! Microsoft switched my input mode from Chinese to English without permission!
