Windows 10 I cannot get past "Preparing Automatic Repair" screen on Windows 10

I've tried everything--attempts to boot the computer in safe mode haven't worked. I've done the nonsense of holding down the power button and restarting several times to force that screen to come up, but it never does. All I get is an ASUS screen which, sometimes, will read "Preparing Automatic Repair" before showing an endless spinning circle. Sometimes those words never appear, and after the ASUS screen, the spinning circle does its thing automatically. I left my computer running when I left for work in the morning and, eight hours later, that circle was still spinning. My monitor hadn't eve
