Windows 11 I cannot remember my PIN but when I try to correct it I am asked for my PIN!

I am logged into my Microsoft account and can access some of the things it has to offer. However, there are some things I cannot do and the reason is that I have forgotten my PIN. For example when I navigate to the Security option on the left hand of the screen I am sent to a box saying "Making sure it's you" and asking for a PIN. Of course, I cannot get beyond this as I have forgotten my PIN. Similarly, when I navogate to Accounts I see an option which says "Change your PIN". Upon clicking this link I am met with a Windows Security box which asks for my old PIN in order to change to a new one
