Windows 11 I don't want OneDrive in the cloud to add photos to my photos gallery

I have software that writes output to a sub-directory on OneDrive. Ideally, if the software allowed this, I'd like only certain files written to OneDrive (program files) and other files elsewhere. However, the software doesn't allow this; I've configured a "root" directory in its settings, and output containing many photos (jpg's) are written on a "hard coded directory under the root directory. I have plenty of space in OneDrive cloud so that isn't in and of itself a problem.So, on my desktop machine, it might create a bunch of jpg's in C:\Users\myname\OneDrive\<application name>\foo\
