Windows 11 I need help with transferring files from my laptop to my phone via usb.

I need to transfer some files from my pc to my phone. the phone I am using is a Huawei p30 lite and I have a windows 11 laptop. whenever I connect the USB it opens the photos software and show the same message every time; "please update your device's settings to accept media transfers". what do I do to fix it?
