Windows 7 I think I was scammed

A couple months ago I got a virus that changed my homepage and kept redirecting my searches until a blue screen with microsoft's supposed toll free number popped up, telling me not to restart my computer because of the risk of data loss and to call 1-866-407-1174. At the time I was panicking so I called them and even paid and they seemed to fix the problem even though my computer freezes a lot now, but now that same blue screen popped up once (but nothing else happened so I used end task) I got suspicious and googled the phone number and company name and it pretty much confirmed I've been scammed. Anyway, computers aren't my forte so I have no idea what to do now. I don't know how to find a reliable computer repair person either (I tried googling them in my area but they have little or no reviews). I'm scared about ruining my computer and losing all my data. Also, since 4 days ago I also can't access my hotmail email even though I can at university. Not sure if that is linked with this though. HELP!


Also, does anybody know anything about Silurian Tech Support? The reason I fell for them was because they didn't do most of the things the websites about these scams talk about. Also, the site I paid through even had that green lock icon.
