Some context for those that might not know: IEC 80000-13 is an international standard that defines units in "information science and technology". The major units being units of data. The bit and byte are universal, however the groupings of them are not. What most people know as a Kilobyte is is 1024 bytes. However "Kilo" is an SI prefix meaning 10^3, but 1024 bytes is 2^10. This caused confusion in scientific circles, and so a binary system of prefixes was developed by IEC to alleviate the confusion. 1024 bytes is a Kibibyte (KiB), while 1000 bytes is a Kilobyte (KB).Its been nearly 15 years s
