Windows 7 internet network driver does not show up in the Network Connections

I purchased ExpressVPN but could not get connected because the active Network (5) connection does not show up in the "Change adapter settings" But it does show I am connected to a public network under the "Network and Sharing Center".I worked with ExpressVPN tech support for over 2 hours and he exhausted all possible avenues. He suggested it might be a driver issue and to contact Microsoft.I have a desktop INSPIRON546 and am running Microsoft 7 version. I am connected to fiber optic Wi-Fi. I know Windows 7 is no longer supported, but need to know if there is a fix out there.
