Problem: Internet connection is intermittent after upgrading from Windows 10 Home (I think) to Windows 10 Education. When it is connected via WiFi, sometimes I see the caution sign on the WiFi connection icon (meaning WiFi is connected but there is no internet). WiFi connection never drops, so it is not an overcrowded WiFi channel issue, but I have also tried changing the channel to the least crowded channel. When I connect my PC with an ethernet cable, the internet connectivity is just as bad. All of my other devices (PC, iphone, ipad) can get good internet connection. I did not see any issues with the drivers in device manager, but I tried updating the Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265 anyways. It made no difference. Since both wireless and wired connections seem to not provide good internet connection or data, I think there is something wrong with Windows. What could it be? How can I fix this?
Some thoughts that come to mind are...
1. Downgrading back to the previous version by entering the product key of previous version of Windows but I don't have the product key.
2. Rolling back to a restore point before the upgrade. (Unfortunately, my PC overwrote that restore point so I cannot restore.)
3. Factory restore - My PC came with a partition. I am assuming it is for factory restore. I think there is software for it too. (I am not in front of my PC right now.)
4. Try connecting a USB WiFi Network Adapter - I have a feeling this might not work since the onboard wireless and wired network adapters don't work (even after updating the drivers), but it is still a possibility.
I think something related to encryption or data transfer is not working right in Windows.
I was wondering if there are other options I should consider that are easier. I don't want to go with options #3 and #4.
