Windows 7 JPG files created on a Windows 10 device cannot be opened on a Windows 7 device

I saved jpg files on a Windows 10 laptop. When I transferred the files to a Windows 7 system, Photo Gallery is not able to open these files. It gives message "Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. The file may be unsupported, damaged or corrupted". But these files can be opened on my Windows 10 laptop. How are they supposed to be corrupted.? Please help fix this issue. Thanks.
