I use my old PC for a media center. I thought my hdd was bad so i bought a new one a few months ago. I partition the harddrive so my OS is on the first partition and then the 2 others are where i keep the media files. After a few weeks or days the computer will restart and then not be able to recognize the operating system and sit in boot mode. None of my files are effected just the partition with windows. The hard drive is brand new i also tried it on another hdd i had and did the same thing after a few days. I cant recover or jump back to a recovery point cause its like windows just disappears. I just keep formatting the system partition and then reinstalling windows 10 home. What is causing this i dont get any errors. Occasionally ill have to plug the harddrive into my external harddrive reader and format and perform a error check with chckdsk. The computer doesnt run hot or anything i cant seem to find wats causing it, all the drivers get updated and everything. Is it possible my motherboard is bad and corrupting system? The hdd isnt bad i know that for sure so im stumped. Is their hardware that is known to do this when they are going out because its weird it works for a few day or weeks just fine then randomly its gone? Is there a way to find a system log or something when it goes bad that might give me an idea what's causing it?
