Hi,
I have the following problem.
Since about 2 months ago we haven't been able to use our LeapReader because it keeps on saying we need to connect it to a computer to download the companion audio etc.. (even thought we had already done that previously and everything was working just fine).
As soon as we plug it in the USB, leapFrogConnect opens up, freezes and then crashes (will try to upload an image).
The message I get is "LeapFrog connect Application has stopped working. a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available".
I tried the following things but had no luck:
1) uninstalled and reinstalled leapConnect (restarting pc)
2) deleted following drivers from Device Manager (restarted pc)
disk drives
leapfrog LeapReader USB Device
universal Serial Bus controllers
USB mass Storage Device
3) uninstalled and reinstalled leapConnect (restarting pc)
I unchecked option "computer would retain some of your information"
4) Connect program and press/hold ctrl+shift+R
and then a window popped up telling me to connect
the leapreader I wanted to reset. I closed that popup as it
directed, connected my misbehaving leapreader,..and leapConnect CRASHED
5) also tried compatibility mode (not sure I got the right settings there)
6) also tried clean boot by running only microsoft services n hiding/disabling the others
then I uninstalled and installed leapConnect and tried again. Fail
Ps. I have also noticed that at some point the green light on my leapReader keeps on flashing
Please help. My son loves this toy and it would be really really sad not being able to use it again.
