Sorry this has been posted before (and I've tried all suggestions I can find).

After 3 days of being passed from person to person on Microsoft chat and helpdesk I have now been told the only way of raising a complaint is " you can post on the Windows forums. Unfortunately, we do not have a dedicated complaint line"

So here I am - perhaps there is someone around a bit more knowledgeable the the people who passed for technicians today.

So after the new Windows 10 update on Sunday my computer started with the lock screen appearing after a few minutes of inactivity.

I tried all the obvious online solutions

- editing the registry so I could see hibernation settings and changing that so the computer hybernated later then 4 minutes.

- ensuring all my power plans are on never (they are always on never)

But no luck. Cue one very frustrated 12 year old tying to learn via Teams with the screen cutting out all the time.

Advisor 1 (wednesday):

- told me to put the screen saver on - reboot - take it off.

- all this did was cause the screen to now cut to lock screen after 1 minute of inactivity.

- changed all the power settings again

- no change

- promised me a reset would fix it.

- spoiler alert - it didn't.

Advisor 2 (thursday):

- remotely connected

- did all the above

- still couldn't fix it.

- but now my 'lock screen' page displays the "Some of these settings are hidden or managed by your organization" message along the top in red.

- escalated to Tier 2 support.

Advisor 3 (tier 2 support) - friday:

- phoned me

- created a new profile

-which meant the screen locked after 10 minutes of inactivity - this I could live with.

- advised via email to quote a case number if I had any further issues.

Fast forward to today (saturday).

- I've re-installed my Outlook and sorted out my emails.

- left the computer and it locks screen at just less then 4 minutes.

Checked all the settings as per day 1.

Contacted helpdesk:

Advisor A: couldn't access the case and expected me to start from scratch with an explanation

Advisor B (tier 1 support): couldn't access the case........ then magically found it on an alternative system. Before asking tier 2 for help who sugested........................................ I re-install Windows AGAIN!! If that didn't work it was the 6 month old laptop that had suddenly developed a fault.

And had no idea why the lock screen said what it did this was just tough.

This is why I am now posting here as that was their advise.

Do you ever get the feeling you are going around in circles and being fobbed off with excuse after excuse?

Can anyone think of a solution I've not tried before I waste another day of reinstalling windows and putting all my documents etc back on it?

(Its an HP Pentium if that helps)
