Windows 10 Lost partition after windows update (windows 10, version 20H2)

Afternoon,I recently updated my windows 10 to 20H2. After the update was complete, one of my partitions was completely empty. I attempted to go back to a previous version of windows. This was successful but my files were still missing. I attempted to use Recuva (recovery software) to find the files, but it did not find anything. My boot partition on the same drive is completely fine. Also, my other hard drive was unaffected. Is there anything I can do to recover my files and also stop something like this happening again?
