Windows 10 Lost saves

I was playing Starfield on the PC Game Pass through Xbox, and lost my save. I was wondering what could have caused this, I lost over 200 hours of a save, and know that GOG deletes saves if it exceeds 200 mb, does Microsoft/Xbox do the same?
