I have a HP EliteBook 840 G3. Recently I have been having issues with my microphone. When I talk into my camera or voice recorder, the sound of my voice goes in and out. When I am talking with individuals through zoom or messenger, the same thing occurs as well. Thus people have a hard time hearing me. I have gone through all the troubleshooting solutions here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4520288/windows-10-fix-sound-problems and I've also set my computer back to its factory settings, wiping all my documents, apps, etc.
Despite all this, when I try to troubleshoot these issues it says that a generic audio driver problem was detected (even though I set it to factory settings). There are also times when the playback device sounds normal and than other times when the sounds cut in and out. I did try to update my Realtek audio driver, but once it uninstalled it never re-installed back on my computer. Despite downloading the Realtek audio driver from the windows website, it never shows up on my device manager or computer in general. So I don't know if this is part of the issues as well. My computer is about 4 years old as well.
