Windows 10 Microsoft Designer Keyboard Connected But not Typing Without Internet

I’m using Windows 10 on a Lenovo keyboard and recently bought the Microsoft Designer Keyboard. My computer’s Bluetooth area shows the keyboard is connected (and at 90% battery) but it does not type when there is no internet connection. This is quite problematic for work since I need to be able to type documents even without the internet. Thoughts/solutions?
