Windows 11 Microsoft Modern Mobile Mouse is paired and connected to Windows 11 but does not work

I spent 3 hours on this and did all the things that were advised such as not 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power'. Reboot in safe mode etc. Slept on it overnight. SOLUTION: fixed by removing Dell mouse pad that I have had for 10+ years.Yep ... that was it.
