Windows 10 Microsoft word and Excel files disappeared from a folder and now only shows them as shortcuts

noticed that an Xcel spread sheet created on 29/04/2021 which was saved under a folder in my documents, has disappeared. I have searched under quick access and also in my pc, and can't find it or the others which were word documents saved as PDF's. Even though it does not show under "recent" on file explorer. I have opened Excel and clicked on the file name which is under "recent", and tried the same with Word all I get is a message comes up saying it can not be found, it must have been moved or deleted I have used file explorer to find documents in April and l
