When I opened the email a Microsoft Edge window opened (which looked like a legitimate MS official window) stating:
MICROSOFT YOUR COMPUTER HAS BEEN BLOCKED ERROR MESSAGE #268D3:
Your computer has alerted us that it has been infected with a virus and spyware. The following information is being stolen:
Facebook Login
Credit card Details
Email Account Login
Photos stored on this computer
You must contact us immediately so that our engineers can walk you through the removal process over the phone. Please call us within the next 5 minutes to prevent your computer from being disabled. Toll Free: 800-249-0541
Then a the bottom is a check box "Don't let this page create more messages
When I tired to close out the webpage at the top right hand corner it would not close - I ran a virus scan through McAfee and it came up clean. So in order to get out just select the check box "Don't let this page create more messages then select OK and it comes to that shadow screen with the Fake blue screen with the fake support number. Then you can close down the screen. I would suggest running a virus scan again just in case though.
P.S. I tried calling the number the scam provided and it did not say "Good Morning Microsoft and the person's name - a woman answered Hello Can I Help You and I noticed that the backround noise was extremely loud and I asked "Who am I speaking to and what company do you represent?" and she hung up on me!
So this message DID NOT ATTACK MY COMPUTER but I'm am sure that if I stayed on the telephone that they would have blocked my computer if I gave them any information. DO NOT CALL THE NUMBER!!!!!
