Windows 10 MMC could not create snap-in file in backup history file

Hello, Weekly Windows 10 backups have been done on an external disk, until it had a fatal hardware error. Switched backups to hard drive D and backups are working fine. However, I noticed that when I access the backup history file, to delete previous backups, there is a message that reads: MMC could not create a snap-in file, specifically "Element not found." Have run sfc /scannow and health & Restore for DISM. No integrity violations. Contacted Microsoft tech support chat. Was asked to re-install Windows 10 to resolve problem.
