Just a little introduction, I have C: drive that is 250GB SDD, which has the operating system and some programs. I also have a 1TB hard drive that has most of the programs and files. This folder also has the "Desktop" folder.
Hey! Today I was just doing normal development on Visual Studio 2017 and I got an error that it couldn't find a .dll. This was a used reference that I was storing in 1 of my folders in my desktop. So I checked the folder and it was empty, but all the subfolders were there, but they were also empty.
Soon I realized that about a half of my desktop icons were gone. So were some .rar files and 1 .apk file I had on my desktop.
I checked my other folders on my Desktop like a folder called "Unity 4,7" I saw all subfolders correctly but not a single file in them. I pressed properties and it shows size as "0 bytes". It shows "0 Files, 1,565 Folders".
I had a folder that I used SVN on and it shows some files under a HIDDEN folder called ".svn", but everything else in that folder is gone (except for the empty subfolders).
A folder called "Unity" was around 40GB when it was OK, but now it's 572mb, so some (very few) files stayed there.
So I tried the usual:
"Indexing options" search, did it correctly, nothing changed.
SFC /scannow, showed no errors
scanned the E: drive, no errors.
Tried to turn on and off hidden files, nothing changed.
Tried to list files in command prompt, didn't show them.
Checked recycle bin, weren't there.
Checked most of the folders in both drives, found no possible places where the files could be.
This is my only user in this computer, well there is a Public user folder, but nothing was there.
As what I have seen, I don't think any other folders were effected. So the "Desktop" was the only one.
So any suggestions on how I could get my files back? Thanks!
