Windows 11 Multiple attempts of plugging and unplugging required for headphones in to be recognised.

When I first start up my laptop and plug in headphones, they are not detected by windows and audio continues to play from the in-built speakers. It is recognised only after repeatedly unplugging and plugging back in (3-4 times usually). Once this is done, if the laptop is not shut down (i.e. only put to sleep), the headphones are detected immediately after plugging in and the audio switched to it correctly.
